GEMS is a musical duo wrapped up in mysticism, as conveyed in their mythical Medusa EP, haunting album Kill The One You Love and recent astronomical single ‘Every Full Moon’. Now the Los Angeles-via-Washington D.C. pair return with the eerie ‘Blow Out The Light’. It’s a perfect title for a song which once again delves into dark-pop chasms. A simple piano progression and drifting vocals open ‘Blow Out The Light’, which then drifts through ticking beats and glassy synths. The minimalistic structure and gloomy atmosphere are indicative of British trip-hop, a sound which floats on a raft of electronic pop signatures to become undoubtedly GEMS’. - HT
